Active Release Technique

A.R.T. is a soft tissue therapy utilized on joints, muscles, ligaments or tendons. This therapy is used for injuries to joints or muscles, or post-surgically to help increase motion of a joint and reduce inflammation/swelling of the joint. Post knee surgery patients really like the improvement they experience with this therapy.

Epley Maneuver

One of the many causes of vertigo (dizziness) may be something called BPPV. Simplified, this is when crystals move around in your inner ear in a place where they don’t belong. We test you for this condition and if you have a positive response, the Epley Maneuver is a 5 minute therapy that assists in mobilizing the crystals out of where they don’t belong, and vertigo may disappear or reduce.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is subluxation?

A subluxation refers to a vertebra that is out of alignment in respect to the vertebra above and below. This misalignment can potentially cause nerve impingement and symptoms may result. Chiropractors reduce subluxations. Additionally, any other joint in the body may experience a subluxation, possibly causing reduced motion or inflammation of that joint and possible symptoms. (ie. the carpal bones causing carpal tunnel, the shoulder joint causing shoulder pain or the elbow joint causing tennis elbow.) Chiropractors can adjust any joint in the body (except the three tiny little bones in your inner ear).

Do Chiropractic adjustments hurt?

They should not hurt. Just the opposite, an adjustment often offers immediate relief.

I hate all that cracking sound when I get adjusted. Is there another way?

Yes, Dr. Lynch has an activator which is a hand held instrument that offers a softer adjustment without any twisting or cracking sounds.

I heard once you go to a Chiropractor, you have to keep going?

We are here for what you need. Some patients only come in once, when they break down and we never see them again. Some people come in every two years when they breakdown. Some patients prefer to get their initial symptoms under control and then come in monthly to maintain their spine in good standing and to keep further breakdowns at bay. Us Chiropractors generally get adjusted every two weeks, so that should tell you something.

Can you help after I have had back surgery?

Yes, more often than not, a patient will experience trouble above or below the surgical site in the future. You can safely be adjusted above and below the site. Or work can be done on a joint that has had surgery or been replaced.

My MRI report showed a bulging disc, can you help with that?

Yes, more than likely. Chiropractic adjustments are decompressive in nature, they serve to open the disc space. Also, the flexion/distraction table serves to open the disc spaces. If you open the disc spaces, the disc has the ability to reduce it’s bulge. Thus, reducing symptoms.
